Difficult market for French poultry processor LDC

LDC, the largest poultry company in France with Loué and Le Gaulois as its main brands, is still experiencing difficult market conditions.

Over the first nine months of the financial year 2014/15, the company made a turnover of €2,221.3 million, which is more or less the same year-on-year. However, in tonnage LDC sold 1,4% more which illustrates the actions taken to support the consumption, the company says in a quarterly statement.

Over the last three months of this period, from September till November, the group turnover increased by 0.8% in euros and by 1.5% in tonnes. The poultry division, which accounts for some 70% of sales, fared slightly better with an 1.6% increase in sales to €528,4 million.

LDC, which is quoted at the Paris stock exchange, confirms its targets for the full financial year with a projected operational result of €130 million compared to €122.2 million realised in the previous financial period. LDC has a number of production facilities in various parts of France as well as in Poland and Spain.
