Enough eggs for festive season

Kuala Lumpur’s Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that there will be adequate supply of chicken and eggs for the coming festivals, up to Chinese New Year.

“Only part of the supply will be imported to overcome any shortage,” he told reporters yesterday at the Parliament lobby. Most would be acquired from local farmers in Kuala Lumpur. Several local companies with foreign partners in Australia had already been short-listed for egg supplies. According to him, the supply of chicken during the festive seasons is expected to increase by between 2.9% and 4.7% from 8.5 million birds to 8.77 million birds a day.
