Eurodon to build duck farm in Moscow Oblast

Russian company Eurodon will start with the construction of a new duck farm in the Ramenskiy district of the Moscow Oblast in 2016, according to the company’s CEO Vadim Vaneev. This duck farm will have a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year.

Eurodon already has a duck farm capable of producing 26,000 tonnes per year in the Millerovo district of the Rostov Oblast. The new farm is scheduled to be completed in 2018. Eurodon aims to come to a total overall production of 300,000 tonnes of turkey and duck meat per year. In 2014 the company produced a total of 45,000 tonnes.

Global shortage of 40 million tonnes in meat production

CEO Vadim Vaneev points out that in his view Russian companies should not produce for domestic consumption, but should also focus on exports. He believes that in the coming years Russia will play an important role in the global food industry: “By 2030 there will be a global shortage of 40 million tonnes in meat production. Only two countries posess enough natural resources to drastically increase their meat production; Brazil and Russia.”
