Guyana’s Minister of Agriculture Leslie Ramsammy has warned the country’s poultry industry that he will ensure that all laws will be complied with in the wake of the US drought, and its influence on worldwide feed prices.
Guyana chicken production for the first half of 2012 was up by 12%, though farmers were complaining about the cost, availability and quality of stock feed.
Ramsammy stated that prices were pushed up without advance notice to farmers or the ministry.
The Ministry of Agriculture intends to hold a consultation with animal feed experts.
