In its new high frequency Water Bath Stunner for poultry, Marel Stork combines solid scientific knowledge of stunning with innovative engineering.
The company aims to offer highest yields and improved meat quality and set new standards for electrical stunning. The new high frequency Water Bath Stunner, which complies fully with EU legislation will be launched soon.
In 2013, EU Council Regulation 1099/2009 on the protection of animals at the time of killing became applicable in all member states of the European Union. The new regulation aims to improve animal welfare and sets common standards across the European Union. It takes into account of technical advances made in recent years. Requirements for electrical water bath stunning have been tightened up and are set out in greater detail. The Regulation dictates substantially higher electrical values for water bath stunners, lays down specific requirements for their design and operation and specifies new guidelines for laying out the kill line.
Within the guidelines laid down by the EU legislation, the new stunner allows poultry processors to strike just the right balance between stunning efficiency and meat quality. The new Stork Water Bath Stunner has an extended frequency range and which it claims will put poultry processors firmly in control.
