The Inodnesian province of Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) is no longer free from avian influenza (AI).
A recent AI outbreak found in Witihama sub-district, Flores Timur claimed the lives of around 20,000 chickens.
Head of NTT livestock department Samuel Rebo said the specimens had been sent to the veterinary institution in Denpasar and the result was positive of AI. “So far we don’t find any case in humans, just in poultry,” he said.
To prevent the virus spreading, NTT livestock department has stamped out birds within a radius of 1 kilometer. Furthermore, the NTT livestock department will strictly control the entry of poultry products from other provinces.
