Isiukwuato Local Government Area, located in southwest Nigeria, in Abia State, intends to set up an integrated poultry farm with the aims of tackling youth unemployment and generate revenue.

Chief Enyimba Nwosu, the transition committee chairman, said that ‘We believe we have the comparative advantage in poultry farming. We want to harness the sector by investing heavily in poultry to provide jobs for youths and reduce over-dependence on monthly federal allocation,” he said.
Nwosu further said the project would provide protein for council workers  and members of Abia State University, Uturu.
The poultry farm forms part of a larger plan of the national food security agenda set by the national government, and the council has also acquired land for cassava cultivation. Nwosu further said an agriculture consultant, was already looking into the possibility of partnering with reputable poultry farmers and companies.
The Nigerian state is also improving general infrastructure such as roads and electricity in order to revive the state and its rural communities.
