Ukrainian egg producer and processor, Ovostar Union, has reported a significant increase in hen numbers as well as output for the first nine months of this year compared to 2012.

As of the 30th September 2013, the company’s total flock size increased by 22% year-on-year to 4.41 million hens from 3.62 million hens. The laying hens flock increased by 41% year-on-year to 3.74 million hens (9M 2012: 2.65 million hens).

Over the reporting period, egg production increased by 32% year-on-year to 648 million eggs. For the same period of 2102, output was 490 million eggs. The volume of eggs sold increased by 26% to 410 million from 326 million in the same period previous year.

Over the first nine months of 2013, egg selling price increased by 3% to UAH0.651 each, compared to UAH0.633 in the nine months of 2012.

Also Over the nine months of 2013, the company processed 199 million eggs, up from 154 million eggs in the same period last year. As a result, sales volumes of dry and liquid egg products increased by 55% year-on-year to 1,132 tons and by 42% year-on-year to 4,992 tonnes.
