People: Hy-Line International welcomes new personnel

Layer genetics company, Hy-Line International has boosted its personnel with two new appointments. Ron Gooi has been appointed Southeast Asia Regional Business Manager of Hy-Line International and Dr Travis Schaal has joined Hy-Line International as a Technical Services Veterinarian.

Gooi will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and will work closely with Hy-Line International colleagues around the world in the company’s Technical Service, Research and Development, and Production departments to ensure that Hy-Line customers realise the benefits of the genetic potential offered by Hy-Line’s efficient commercial layers.



Schaal will be focused on running the internal veterinary programs in Dallas Center. The internal functions include export documentation, biosecurity and animal welfare programs. He will also work with of the Global Technical services team including Dr. Doug Grieve, Dr. Kenton Kreager, Dr. Ian Rubinoff, and Dr. Isa Ehr in providing support for Hy-Line North America and Valo BioMedia North America.



Schaal is a graduate of Oregon State University and received numerous awards, including the L. Dwight Schwartz Travel Scholarship, Kenneth H. Eskelund Preceptorship and AVMA Student Externship Stipend Award.  He is also a member of the Association of Veterinarians in Egg Production, American Association of Avian Pathologists, American Veterinary Medical Association and the Poultry Science Association.  Additionally, he has extensive laboratory and field experience through the Oregon Department of Agriculture, USDA Food Safety Inspection Service, and working with veterinarians in many aspects of the poultry industry.
