Pieter Oosthuysen has been appointed key accounts and regional technical manager for Cobb Europe in southern Africa.

Oosthuysen obtained an honours degree in nutrition and reproduction at the university of Free State, and began his career as a lecturer in animal production at the Glen College of Agriculture and the Mangosuthu Technicon.

Then after managing a regional breeder operation for Rainbow, he established Cobb South Africa in 2000 developing the market for Cobb broiler breeders in South Africa and eventually Namibia.

Oosthuysen has continued his professional development with a management development programme at the University of Stellenbosch business school as dux student and a leadership programme at the University of Cape Town business school.

Pelayo Casanovas, sales & technical director for Cobb Europe said, “Pieter brings 25 years of experience in the poultry industry and has worked for the last 18 years with Rainbow and Cobb South Africa.”

“He has been instrumental in making Cobb grow in the South African market to its current strong position and has always impressed us in his ability to support customers both from a marketing and technical point of view. Pieter will continue his good work servicing our distributors across Sub-Saharan Africa. His appointment shows our commitment to support a region with tremendous growth potential.”
