Pilgrim’s Pride sued over overtime

The US Department of Labor has filed a suit against Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., accusing the Texas-based poultry processor of not paying overtime to more than 500 employees.

The suit claims that the violation started two years ago, and Pilgrim Pride had employees work for more than 40 hours per week, without the necessary payment required by law. The suit also said that the company “failed to make, keep and preserve adequate and accurate records” of its workers.
“Pilgrim’s Pride strives to comply with all state, federal and local laws with respect to employment,” said Ray Atkinson, the company’s spokesperson.
