Probroed & Sloot, the largest independent broiler hatchery in the Netherlands which delivers one day old chicks to farms in Holland, Germany and Belgium has acquired Dutch chick hatching company Unibroed – van Lith.
“The breeding capacity of Unibroed, the transparent quality and the good start with the new brood chick concept align very well with our approach and market position,” said Hans van der Vleuten, CEO of Probroed and Sloot, which has hatcheries in the Dutch towns of Groenlo and Meppel and a strategic cooperation with hatchery Rosefeld in Dessau (Germany).
“We have in recent years invested heavily in an open and transparent quality and have made a good start with implementing the brood chick concept of Hatchbrood. The chicks, are produced in welfare-friendly systems making it easier for customers to achieve excellent results practically without drugs, “says Frank Louw, director of Unibroed. “Together with Probroed and Sloot, we can use our incubator capacity and continue to invest in the increasing demand for breeding Chicks”.
With the take-over Probroed and Sloot, acquires a large new hatchery in Langenboom, North Brabant. “The acquisition enables us to go back to producing all the chicks in-house” says van der Vleuten.
During 2011, Unibroed – van Lith will begin to trade under the name Probroed and Sloot, Team Langenboom.
