Ravindran receives poultry nutrition award

Velmurugu “Ravi” Ravindran, an international animal nutrition expert, has been recognised for his professional achievements by the Poultry Science Association.

Ravindran, a professor at the Institute of Food Nutrition & Animal Health at Massey University in New Zealand, where he specialises in poultry nutrition, with emphasis on nutrient metabolism, feed enzymes, feed evaluation, amino acid availability, gut flora management and early nutrition in poultry, was presented the Poultry Nutrition Research Award during the annual PSA meeting held in St. Louis. 

Ravindran has had a notable international career. Prior to his work in New Zealand, he held academic and research positions in Sri Lanka, Canada, the US and Australia. He is also a member of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Expert Committee on new feed resources in animal nutrition.

Ravindran has published three books and 30 chapters and has been recognised from peers in over 1,000 citations. He has also served on the editorial boards of several prestigious academic journals, including British Journal of Nutrition, Animal Feed Science and Technology, Journal of Applied Poultry Research, and Journal of Animal Science.
