Russia has produced 1.33 million tonnes of poultry meat in live weight in the first quarter of 2015, which is 11.4% or 151,200 tonnes more than during the same period of 2014.
The volume of egg production amounted to 8.27 billion eggs, which is 2.2% or 228.1 million eggs more year-on-year, according to a recent report of the Russian Agriculture Ministry.
The report adds that the main increase was obtained in Belgorod and Bryansk Oblast and the Republic of Mari El. At the same time the main increase in egg production has been provided by Yaroslavl and Belgorod Oblasts as well as the Republic of Tatarstan.
Previously, the Russian Union of Poultry producers issued a forecast which says that in 2015 the country will be able to increase the volume of poultry production by 317,400 tonnes or by 8% compared to 2014. Noteworthy is that a large part of growth this year may come from turkey production which is being supported by a growing number of investment projects.
“In general, Russian is seeing a positive dynamic in terms of volumes of poultry production in the agricultural organisations,” stated the head of the livestock and breeding department of the Russian Agricultural Ministry, Vladimir Labinov.
