Several companies from Russia’s Republic of Mari El have been granted the right to export poultry products to the UAE.
The first delivery of 20 tonnes has been already tested and approved for transportation abroad, according to official sources in Rosselkhoznadzor. Before the end of the year several shipments of a similar volume are planned, according to the report.
“Poultry meat that has been produced by poultry farms in the Republic of Mari El meets all the necessary requirements for quality and safety,” Rosselkhoznadzor stated.
A source close to the agreement said that the export of poultry to the UAE is very important for the local poultry farms. “In the UAE you can only export halal meat. Several poultry farms of the Mari El republic specifically invested in the creation of this kind of production. Investments like this in Russia are very promising, as domestic demand for halal poultry is growing, and the country is also actively seeking sales markets in the Middle East.”
The report also notes that the contract for the supply of poultry products to UAE is very profitable for Russian companies as the purchase price in this country is largely higher than in Russia, which covers the cost of transportation.
