Tyson fires workers at chicken plant, welfare and hygiene issues

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which recently sent an undercover investigator into the plants, has detailed how chickens at the plants were treated cruelly and consequently notified the federal agriculture department in January. A video was also apparently released on the PETA website showing workers throwing chickens and urinating on the plant floor , among other activities. According ot a company spokesperson, Tyson’s check found no evidence of any food safety concerns.

According to the company, management surveillance of areas where live chickens are handled are also been improved. Additionally, workers are also been re-trained. It has not been reported how many employees had been fired.
