Ukraine exports more poultry to the EU

Since the beginning of 2015 Ukraine exported 4,000 tonnes of poultry meat to the European Union (EU) under the duty-free quotas, according to the country’s Agricultural Ministry. Ukraine expects to export a total of 20,000 tonnes to the EU this year.

The average monthly amount of poultry that is being exported to the EU is steadily increasing since the third quarter of 2014, when Ukraine was allowed to supply poultry to the EU.

Ukraine has been given the following quotas for their exports to the EU: 1,500 tonnes of egg products, 3,000 tonnes of eggs and 36,000 tonnes of poultry meat. That’s slightly less than the 20,000 tonnes of chilled poultry and 20,000 tonnes of frozen poultry annually Ukraine’s Agricultural Ministry was aiming for.

The exports represent a value of 50-55 million dollar for poultry production and 20-25 million dollar for eggs and egg products.
