Ukraine sends first foie gras shipment to EU

Ukraine’s largest poultry producer, MHP, has sent the first shipments of foie gras to the European market.

Agricultural holding MHP has begun shipping goose liver to the European Union. It has also exported 430 kg to Hungary, according to the company’s head of Investor Relations and Media Department, Anastasia Sobotyuk.

“We continue to supply our products to the EU. The first shipment of foie gras is already in Europe. The test batch has already past the border and customs clearance in Hungary,” wrote Sobotyuk.

Ukraine received permission to export poultry products to the European Union on July 24, 2013. Three enterprises of agricultural holding MHP: Mironovskaya Poultry (chilled and frozen chicken), Snyatynska poultry (goose meat, foie gras) and Mironovsky Meat Processing Plant “Easy” (finished food products), currently have the right to supply its products to the EU.

The company is actively increasing the supply of poultry meat abroad. MHP has for the first nine months of this year delivered 84.8 thousand tonnes of chicken to foreign markets, which is 2.6 times more than in the same period last year .
