Moy Park can now lay claim to running the largest single-build hatchery in the UK, following a £20m investment in its Newark-Upon-Trent facility in Nottinghamshire.

Capacity at the site is now 2.5 million chicks/week supplying 60 farms across Lincolnshire.

The company says it has employed industry-leading technology to improve production, animal welfare, hygiene and biosecurity, while cutting electricity use.

It is part of a programme of expansion for the Northern Ireland-headquartered integrator, which processes 5.7 million birds a week.

Janet McCollum, Moy Park’s chief executive, said: “Over the last number of years, we have strengthened our production capabilities and together with our network of 800 dedicated farming partners across the UK, we have continued to develop our agriculture estate.

“This latest announcement builds on that success and ensuring that Moy Park continues to meet the evolving needs of customers and consumers.”
